Job Full Description:
A global manufacturing organization in West Michigan is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support hourly and salaried employees in a manufacturing environment. This role provides full-spectrum human resources support including employee relations, benefits administration, payroll support, onboarding, compliance, and HR reporting. The HR Generalist serves as a trusted resource to employees and leaders, ensuring HR policies, procedures, and practices are applied consistently and in compliance with federal and state regulations.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, service-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting where confidentiality, accuracy, and collaboration are critical
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary HR point of contact for hourly and salaried employees, responding to questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Support supervisors and managers with employee relations matters including conflict resolution, corrective action, and workplace investigations
- Assist employees with inquiries related to benefits, payroll, recruitment, training, and company policies
- Coordinate pre-employment screenings including background checks and drug testing
- Conduct and coordinate new hire onboarding and in-person orientation sessions
- Maintain accurate employee records and data within SAP or similar HRIS systems
- Prepare and distribute monthly headcount and HR reporting
- Administer employee benefit programs including enrollments, terminations, billing reconciliation, and open enrollment support
- Process weekly employer 401(k) match funding and manage retirement forfeiture accounts
- Participate in vendor audits such as 401(k), workers’ compensation, and benefits audits
- Assist with weekly and bi-weekly payroll processing and serve as backup payroll administrator as needed
- Ensure compliance with federal and state labor law posting requirements
- Support company-wide employee engagement events and initiatives
- Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
- Perform additional HR-related duties as assigned
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Job Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience
- Payroll administration experience required
- Experience supporting employee relations and benefits administration
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP/HRIS systems
- Experience with ADP payroll systems
- Manufacturing environment experience
- German or Portuguese language skills
Job Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent professional HR experience in a manufacturing environment
