Job Full Description:
North Country Community Mental Health (NCCMH), serving six counties in Northern Michigan, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Outpatient Therapist to join its team in Kalkaska, Michigan. This full-time, union, exempt role provides professional outpatient therapy services to adults and children with mental illness, serious emotional disturbance (SED), intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and co-occurring substance use disorders.
The Outpatient Therapist delivers person-centered, recovery-oriented care through assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic intervention, while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, community partners, and agency psychiatrists. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered upon completion of six months of continuous employment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct mental status examinations and diagnostic intake assessments
- Develop and maintain person-centered treatment plans aligned with utilization management criteria
- Provide individual, family, and group outpatient therapy services
- Deliver crisis intervention and emergency outpatient services as needed
- Consult with agency psychiatrists and collaborate across NCCMH programs
- Provide evaluation, treatment, consultation, and education within areas of clinical expertise
- Build and maintain effective relationships with community agencies and resources
- Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with Medicaid and agency standards
- Submit provider activity data and required reports within established timelines
- Maintain compliance with NCCMH policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards
- Meet established direct and indirect service activity expectations
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Center Supervisor

Job Experience
- Appropriate State of Michigan licensure
- Supervised clinical experience including assessment, treatment planning, and therapy
- Ability and willingness to provide services on-site and in community-based settings
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to learn and utilize NorthStar Electronic Medical Records system
- Valid Michigan driver’s license with satisfactory driving record
- Reliable transportation, phone, and internet access
Preferred:
- Experience working with adults, children, SPMI, SED, IDD, and co-occurring SUD
- Lived experience with behavioral health challenges
- Familiarity with recovery-oriented, person-centered, and culturally competent service models
Job Education
- Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Professional Counseling, or Social Work
