Job Full Description:
A faith-based non-profit organization in West Michigan is seeking a highly organized and mission-driven Operations Supervisor to oversee daily pantry, warehouse, and store functions. This organization strives to love neighbors by providing food and clothing, spread hope by treating all with dignity and compassion, and assist partner ministries in serving their communities. The Operations Supervisor will manage inventory flow, supervise key departments, and ensure efficient distribution of resources to both the organization and its community partners.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day pantry, warehouse, and store operations, ensuring efficient processes and organization
- Manage incoming and outgoing product, including food and non-food items, with proper labeling, storage, and distribution
- Supervise and support staff and volunteers, including Store Manager, Assistant Manager, packers, and volunteer teams
- Coordinate daily movement of inventory from warehouse to store, ensuring shelves remain stocked appropriately
- Oversee product categories including dry goods, frozen items, produce, dairy, and miscellaneous goods
- Manage ordering, storage, rotation, and distribution of frozen, produce, and dairy items while minimizing waste
- Develop and enforce processes for sorting, repairing, and distributing goods with the help of volunteers
- Ensure compliance with USDA product guidelines and proper handling procedures
- Coordinate sharing and distribution efforts with partner pantries, including preparing tickets and managing inventory allocation
- Maintain knowledge of all incoming products, including shelf life, storage requirements, and appropriate distribution timelines
- Drive organization truck as needed for product transport (no CDL required)
- Collaborate with leadership, including Warehouse Director and Executive Board, to improve operational efficiency
- Train and mentor team members and volunteers, helping them develop skills and effectiveness in their roles
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized warehouse and store environments, including clothing and sorting areas
- Utilize communication tools such as two-way radios to coordinate daily operations
Schedule:
- Full-time, Monday–Friday (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
- 40 hours per week
Job Experience
- Strong alignment with the organization’s faith-based mission and a heart for serving others
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead staff and volunteers effectively
- Basic financial understanding and ability to support operational decision-making
- Comfortable using computers and standard office systems
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs. and perform physical tasks as needed
- Willingness to operate equipment such as a hi-lo (forklift experience a plus)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a truck (no CDL required)
- Ability to ask for, receive, and apply feedback constructively
- Experience in warehouse, logistics, retail, or non-profit operations preferred
- Knowledge of food handling, storage practices, or inventory management is a plus
