Job Full Description:

A growing company in West Michigan is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Operations Manager to oversee daily production, inventory, logistics, and team performance across the facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient material flow, high-quality output, and smooth coordination between departments including dismantling, inventory, sorting, processing, and shipping. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational expertise, proven process improvement experience, and the ability to develop teams while driving productivity and profitability.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage day-to-day operations to ensure efficient workflow across dismantling, inventory, sorting, processing, returns, and shipping.
  • Identify bottlenecks and optimize processes using Lean principles and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Oversee production planning, staffing assignments, and performance to ensure output goals are met.
  • Coordinate logistics, including transportation, receiving, and shipping, ensuring timely movement of materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of incoming vehicles, reusable parts, and processed scrap materials.
  • Ensure quality control standards are met and materials meet internal and customer specifications.
  • Hire, train, mentor, and supervise yard staff, technicians, and department leads.
    Foster a positive, high-performing team culture with clear communication and accountability.
  • Collaborate closely with sales reps, supervisors, and upper leadership to ensure operational alignment.
  • Manage operational budgets, track financial performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support long-term strategic planning and operational improvements in partnership with company leadership.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday 7am-5pm 

Job Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of operations or production management experience, ideally in auto parts, recycling, or manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising and developing teams.
    Hands-on working style with the ability to lead by example and manage diverse day-to-day needs.
  • Experience implementing Lean, 5S, or other continuous improvement methods.
    Solid understanding of inventory control, production flow, logistics, and quality management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational data to guide decision-making.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and general computer applications.

Job Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
