Job Full Description:

A growing medical manufacturing company in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Material Planner to join their supply chain team. This role is responsible for planning and managing purchased materials to support on-time production, maintain optimal inventory levels, and ensure data accuracy within SAP. The Material Planner will collaborate closely with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to support production needs and drive continuous improvement across supply chain operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan purchased raw materials and components by category and supplier to support production demand and inventory turn goals
  • Create, manage, and execute purchase orders while monitoring supplier fulfillment and on-time delivery performance
  • Analyze internal and external conditions to determine when to expedite, defer, or cancel material deliveries
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to resolve pricing discrepancies, receipt issues, and invoice reconciliation
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning and inventory management activities to ensure data accuracy
  • Lead and support phase-in/phase-out activities related to design changes, value engineering, supplier transitions, and product lifecycle management
  • Maintain material master and planning data within SAP
  • Participate in lean initiatives, Kaizen events, and structured problem-solving activities
  • Use data-driven analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm

Job Experience

  • Experience in supply chain planning, demand planning, logistics, purchasing, or inventory management
  • Proficiency with ERP systems; SAP B1 experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and data analysis
  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, warehousing, inventory control, and quality systems
  • Familiarity with FDA, ISO, cGMP, and GDP requirements preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and supplier communication skills with the ability to manage conflicts and negotiate effectively
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Results-oriented and self-motivated with sound problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Job Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Science, or a related field
