Pay: $90,000-$105,000/YR., based on experience

Job Full Description:

A manufacturing company in West Michigan is seeking an experienced and strategic HR Manager to lead and direct all core human resources functions. This role is responsible for overseeing hiring, employee relations, compensation and benefits, compliance, and HR systems while partnering closely with plant leadership to support operational goals and workforce growth. The ideal candidate brings deep HR generalist experience in a manufacturing environment, strong knowledge of employment law, and hands-on expertise with HRIS systems—specifically UKG Ready.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all HR functions, including HR administration, recruitment, compensation & benefits, employee relations, training & development, and HR compliance

  • Implement and maintain HR strategies, policies, procedures, and best-practice HR processes aligned with business and operational needs

  • Serve as a strategic HR partner to plant management and department leaders, ensuring consistent and compliant application of HR policies

  • Oversee full-cycle recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, workforce planning, and personnel growth initiatives

  • Administer payroll coordination, employee benefits, annual enrollment, and leave programs including FMLA, COBRA, STD/LTD, Workers’ Compensation, and unemployment claims

  • Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and employee retention strategies

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; maintain accurate employment records and audit HR documentation

  • Compile and report HR metrics including headcount, turnover, overtime, training, and workforce trends for leadership

  • Coordinate and track internal and external training programs and performance review processes

  • Manage external HR vendors related to recruiting, payroll, legal, and training services

  • Support safety initiatives through reporting, incident tracking, and collaboration with safety leadership

  • Continuously evaluate HR processes and implement improvement and cost-saving initiatives

Schedule: Full-Time, 9am-5pm Monday-Friday

Job Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive HR generalist experience within a manufacturing environment

  • Extensive knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices

  • Strong experience administering compensation, benefits, employee relations, and compliance programs

  • Advanced proficiency with HRIS systems, required experience with UKG Ready

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP experience a plus)

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and execute HR initiatives independently

  • Professional, ethical, and employee-focused approach with strong problem-solving skills

Job Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

  • PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or similar HR certification preferred
