Job Full Description:

A West Michigan nonprofit dedicated to supporting immigrants and new Americans as they build stable lives locally is seeking a mission-driven Fund Development Specialist to lead fundraising, grant development, and partnership-building initiatives. This role is essential in strengthening the organization’s long-term sustainability and expanding its impact across the community. The ideal candidate is a culturally sensitive, strategic relationship-builder with strong grant writing abilities, experience cultivating donor and partner networks, and a passion for creating equitable opportunities for individuals transitioning to life in West Michigan.

Responsibilities:

  • Partnership Management

    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners
    • Identify and collaborate with external organizations to expand program reach and leverage shared resources
    • Negotiate, manage, and steward partnership agreements and contracts

    Grant Sourcing, Writing & Management

    • Identify and evaluate grant opportunities from government entities, foundations, corporations, and community partners
    • Write compelling, mission-aligned grant proposals, applications, and supporting materials
    • Manage grant timelines, reporting requirements, and communication with funders
    • Track and manage grant budgets in partnership with the finance team
    • Lead fundraising efforts with a first-year goal of generating $250,000

    Financial Management & Reporting

    • Serve as a liaison between program staff and the finance/funds committee
    • Present financial updates related to grants, donations, and program funding
    • Track revenue and expenses with accuracy to ensure strong financial stewardship
    • Collaborate with the finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning

Schedule: Full-Time, varied schedule based on events occasionally in evenings and weekends 

Job Experience

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, donor relations, or nonprofit development
  • Proven success in securing grants and cultivating donor relationships
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and partnership-building abilities
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and project management skills
  • Experience working with diverse communities; familiarity with immigrant populations a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and reporting requirements
  • Proficiency with donor management or CRM software preferred
