Job Full Description:
A leading disaster recovery and restoration company is seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Estimator to join their team. This position is the second level in the Estimating career track and is achieved after completion of required new hire training. The Estimator will be responsible for creating, managing, and reviewing estimates and jobs across residential, commercial, and industrial lines of business. This role works closely with clients, insurance adjusters, trades, and internal management to ensure projects are accurately scoped, competitively priced, and completed successfully.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a local client base positioned to refer losses, primarily insurance adjusters, as well as community business owners, schools, and municipalities
- Meet with clients and serve as a primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle
- Create accurate floor plans and detailed estimates using Xactimate software and Xactimate Sketch
- Follow company-standard naming conventions and estimate formatting for all estimates, revisions, proposals, and change orders
- Develop, manage, and adhere to project budgets, addressing cost overages as they arise
- Maintain construction schedules and coordinate with trades and management to ensure timely completion of work
- Review invoices and labor regularly to ensure job costs are captured accurately on a monthly basis
- Communicate job progress, budget status, and project updates with clients and management
- Demonstrate knowledge of applicable local building codes and industry standards
- Identify potential site hazards such as asbestos, lead paint, and mold
- Coordinate after-hours emergency services as directed, including board-ups, water, fire, smoke, and vandalism response
- Demonstrate proficiency in mitigation, containment, decontamination, investigative demolition, structure cleaning, and deodorization services
- Participate in ongoing training, including Xactimate training and Estimator certification preparation
- Independently manage assigned workload and priorities
- Maintain company vehicle safety, cleanliness, and required inspections
- Complete all accident, injury, and incident reports in a timely manner
- Assist with continuous improvement efforts to support operational excellence
- Comply with all company and department policies, procedures, and safety guidelines

- English literacy and fluency required
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Extensive customer service experience with a professional demeanor and appearance
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills; experience with Xactimate required
- Understanding of MSDS data sheets and their application to job sites
- Working knowledge of local building codes
- Ability to negotiate scopes of work and agreements with customers
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with team members and vendors
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safeguarding client property and information
- Ability to work under time constraints and meet strict timelines
- Willingness to attend company-sponsored operational and safety training as required
- Ability to frequently lift 50 lbs. or more without assistance
