Job Full Description:

A community-based behavioral health organization in Northern Michigan is seeking an experienced and compassionate Center Supervisor to lead outpatient mental health services for a county-based center in Kalkaska, MI. This full-time, exempt leadership role is responsible for overseeing clinical and support service teams while ensuring high-quality, recovery-oriented, and person-centered care for individuals and families.

The Center Supervisor serves as the primary clinical and community-facing leader for the center, fostering strong partnerships with local agencies and ensuring compliance with clinical, regulatory, and quality standards. The ideal candidate brings strong clinical expertise, supervisory experience, and a deep commitment to serving diverse and vulnerable populations with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and supervision of clinical, supports coordination, family support, community living support, and clerical staff
  • Chair and facilitate daily clinical huddles to support coordination, communication, and quality care delivery
  • Deliver mental health services as needed, including assessments, diagnostic consultations, emergency evaluations, and person-centered treatment planning
  • Review and oversee clinical documentation, case records, and record retention systems to ensure compliance with agency, Medicaid, and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct utilization reviews and provide ongoing clinical consultation and guidance to staff
  • Coordinate and oversee outpatient crisis intervention services and participate in emergency coverage rotation as required
  • Ensure appropriate consultation and collaboration with psychiatric providers and external service partners
  • Develop and maintain referral sources and community partnerships to support coordinated care
  • Oversee collaboration between mental health, substance use, criminal justice, and social service systems
  • Monitor service quality and implement continuous improvement efforts
  • Submit accurate statistical data, reports, and documentation as required
  • Develop and deliver internal training and professional development for staff
  • Participate in committees, meetings, and agency initiatives as assigned
  • Represent the organization professionally within the community and maintain positive stakeholder relationships
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by senior clinical leadership

Schedule:

  • Full-Time, Exempt

Job Experience

  • Active licensure as a mental health professional
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in mental health services, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Strong clinical knowledge, documentation skills, and understanding of Medicaid and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex situations calmly and effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Preferred:

  • Lived experience with behavioral health challenges or strong connection to recovery-oriented systems of care
  • Experience working within community mental health or public-sector behavioral health systems
  • Knowledge of fiscal management, human resources practices, and compliance standards

Job Education

  • Master’s degree (MSW, MS, MA, or equivalent) in a related behavioral health field from an accredited institution
