Job Full Description:
An injection molding manufacturing organization in West Michigan is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities. This role provides leadership to the accounting team and plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvement.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a collaborative manufacturing environment where accuracy, accountability, and cross-functional partnership are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and analyze results for accuracy and trends
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and controls
- Lead month-end close processes, including account reconciliations and checklist management
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries
- Oversee accounting for fixed assets, tooling, and capital expenditures
- Partner with department leaders to develop budgets and forecasts
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support business decision-making
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, including Staff Accountant and AP/AR team members
- Drive process improvements and standardization across accounting functions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership and operational teams
- Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed
Schedule:
Job Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- CPA designation preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
- Experience overseeing general ledger, AP/AR, and financial reporting processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
