Our client, a growing organization, is seeking an experienced Temporary Accounting Manager to provide leadership and stability during a transitional period. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished accounting professional who can quickly assess priorities, manage critical financial processes, and deliver accurate, timely reporting while supporting the organization’s continued growth.
About the Role
The Temporary Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead the full-cycle accounting function throughout the assignment. This individual will manage the monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting support, variance analysis, and process improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complete financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.
- Manage and coordinate monthly close activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery.
- Review account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and supporting documentation.
- Perform monthly variance analysis and provide clear, actionable explanations to management.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and other accounting processes.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Assist with audits, strengthen internal controls, and address accounting or reporting issues.
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting procedures, workflows, and reporting processes.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve financial operations and communication.
- Provide guidance and oversight to accounting personnel during the assignment.
- Support system enhancements and other projects designed to improve the scalability of finance operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 3–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with prior supervisory or management responsibility preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or comparable ERP/accounting systems.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly understand existing processes and independently take ownership of priorities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a temporary, interim, turnaround, or high-growth environment is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a time-sensitive role and deliver results with minimal ramp-up.
