Our client is a multi-entity restaurant organization looking to identify an experienced Staff Accountant. This role is well-suited for an accounting professional who is detail-driven, comfortable managing high volumes of bank activity, and fluent in restaurant-specific accounting concepts.
Position Overview
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for bank and credit card reconciliations across 23 entities, general ledger support, AP/AR, and daily sales reporting. While payroll is not a primary responsibility, this role requires a working understanding of payroll processes and payroll taxes. Prior restaurant industry experience is required, including familiarity with “Food & Paper” accounting terminology.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations for approximately 23 entities (average of 3 bank accounts per entity)
- Monitor daily bank activity and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts with a strong understanding of debits and credits
- Support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
- Assist with preparation and review of daily sales reports
- Provide support related to payroll processing as needed (not a primary duty)
- Understand and track Food & Paper costs, inventory-related expenses, and restaurant-specific financial metrics
- Assist with month-end close activities and ad hoc accounting projects
Qualifications
- Prior restaurant industry accounting experience (required)
- Strong understanding of Food & Paper and restaurant accounting terminology
- Proven experience with bank and credit card reconciliations
- Solid knowledge of general ledger accounting, including debits and credits
- Experience supporting AP, AR, and sales reporting
- Basic understanding of payroll processes and payroll taxes
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines
