Our client is a metal fabrication company looking to hire an experienced Project Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, growing organization known for high-quality work in the steel fabrication and construction sectors.


About the Role

The Project Manager will oversee projects from initial release through fabrication, purchasing, and delivery. Ideal candidates will come from the steel industrymetal fabrication, or a related industrial or construction environment.

This role requires time both in the office, the fabrication shop, and on construction sites. Occasional travel to job sites is required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process and set up new jobs in Strumis:
    • Generate purchase requisitions
    • Obtain and manage vendor quotes
  • Evaluate cost, lead times, and vendor options to support project requirements.
  • Issue purchase orders and coordinate with selected vendors.
  • Prepare and issue fabrication packages for the shop team.
  • Maintain communication across engineering, fabrication, purchasing, and field teams.
  • Uphold all PPE and safety protocols while on the shop floor or at job sites.
  • Provide timely updates on project schedules, budgets, and material flow.

Qualifications

Preferred Backgrounds (In Order of Priority)

  1. Experience in the steel industry or steel fabrication
  2. Project management experience in any fabrication environment
  3. Project management experience in construction

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction ManagementCivil EngineeringMechanical Engineering, or related field preferred
  • PMP certification preferred but not required
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience preferred, but we are open to various experience levels depending on background and fit

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent communication and vendor management skills
  • Ability to read technical documents, drawings, or specifications (a plus)
  • Comfortable working in mixed environments: office, shop, and field
  • Commitment to safety and quality
  • Computer-savvy; experience with Strumis or similar industry software is a plus

Work Environment & Travel

  • Mix of officefabrication shop, and construction site environments
  • Must follow all PPE and safety requirements
  • Occasional travel to job sites is required
