Our client, a leading manufacturing organization, is seeking a highly analytical and results-driven Plant Accountant to join their finance team. This role is responsible for supporting plant operations through financial analysis, cost accounting, budgeting, inventory management, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong accounting foundation, manufacturing experience, and the ability to partner effectively with operational leaders to drive business performance.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute plant financial reports and performance metrics.
- Analyze operating results and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide detailed variance analysis related to production, labor, overhead, and inventory costs.
- Support management with financial modeling and data-driven recommendations.
- Assist in developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs).
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting and costing records.
- Monitor inventory transactions and investigate discrepancies.
- Analyze standard costs, manufacturing variances, and cost allocations.
- Ensure accurate product costing and support periodic inventory counts.
- Partner with operations to improve inventory controls and cost efficiency.
Month-End Close
- Lead and support month-end closing activities for the plant.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with company policies.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and balance sheet issues.
Budgeting & Planning
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast expectations.
- Provide financial support for capital projects and operational initiatives.
- Prepare financial analyses to support strategic decision-making.
Business Partnership
- Collaborate with plant leadership and cross-functional teams to improve operational and financial performance.
- Serve as a trusted financial partner to manufacturing, supply chain, and operations leaders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and cost management strategies.
- Communicate financial results and recommendations to management in a clear and actionable manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA designation preferred.
- 4 to 7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Cost Accounting experience required.
- Experience with inventory accounting, financial analysis, and month-end close processes.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience using SAP required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, financial modeling, and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and business partnering abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
