Job Full Description:
The Piping Drafter / Designer will be responsible for producing accurate AutoCAD drawings across piping, structural, and electrical disciplines. This role requires strong real-world knowledge of piping systems and construction practices, along with the ability to interpret customer red lines, generate bills of material, and quality-check work produced by other drafters.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise AutoCAD drawings for piping, structural, and electrical systems
- Interpret and incorporate customer red-line markups into finalized drawings
- Generate accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) based on project drawings
- Perform QC reviews of drawings completed by other drafters to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with customer specifications
- Verify measurements, dimensions, and system layouts prior to drawing release
- Collaborate with project teams to support on-time project delivery
Performance Expectations
- Produce accurate AutoCAD drawings aligned with customer specifications and red lines
- Complete precise bills of material to support fabrication and construction
- Ensure high-quality, error-free drawings through effective QC of peer work
- Contribute immediately to active projects with little to no training required
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional AutoCAD drafting experience (required)
- Piping design and/or construction background strongly preferred and considered critical due to the specialized nature of the work
- Solid understanding of piping systems, measurements, and construction practices
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs
- Experience creating bills of material from drawings
- Strong ability to interpret and execute red-line markups accurately
Technical Skills
- AutoCAD: Proficient (required)
- Piping design: Strongly preferred
- Structural and electrical drafting: Preferred
- CADworks: Plus (training available)
- Strong attention to detail and drawing accuracy
