Job Full Description:

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead engineering, maintenance, toolroom, and product engineering activities within a high-volume manufacturing plant. This role is responsible for driving process excellence, equipment readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives to support world-class product manufacturing and operational performance.

The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical/manufacturing engineering expertise with proven leadership experience in a dynamic production environment.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and manage the plant’s engineering, maintenance, toolroom, and product engineering teams, including direct supervision of engineers and indirect management of hourly maintenance personnel through a maintenance supervisor.
  • Develop, coach, and support team members to enhance technical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.

Manufacturing Engineering & Process Optimization

  • Own manufacturing process design, development, implementation, and optimization, ensuring alignment with internal standards, quality requirements, and operational goals.
  • Lead lean manufacturing, waste elimination, and process flow improvement initiatives across the facility.
  • Identify and introduce new technologies, equipment, and automated solutions to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput.

Project & Change Management

  • Lead major engineering projects such as new product introductions, equipment installations, process changes, and capital improvements.
  • Represent engineering in regular leadership and Teams meetings with top management.
  • Proactively manage cross-functional change related to safety, production processes, equipment, systems, and workflow.

Operational Support & Technical Ownership

  • Provide hands-on technical support for troubleshooting production, tooling, and equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, supply chain, and other key functional areas to drive successful execution of manufacturing initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate process documentation, engineering standards, PFMEAs, and compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical field required.
  • Advanced degree or certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, Project Management (PMP), or related specialties preferred.

Experience

  • 7–10 years of manufacturing engineering experience with significant hands-on work in process development, optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • 3–5 years of leadership or management experience supervising engineers and/or maintenance teams in a plant setting.
  • Strong background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, particularly in process design and optimization for complex, assembly-based or mechanical product environments.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering and maintenance functions.
  • Strong analytical, mechanical, and problem‑solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Proven track record of driving improvements in safety, quality, cost, and operational performance.
