Position Overview
The Financial Services Officer (FSO) II & III is responsible for providing comprehensive financial services support to credit union members, including account servicing, transaction processing, and consumer lending. This role combines relationship-building, sales, teller operations, and loan processing, while ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Member Service & Relationship Development
- Assist current and prospective members with daily banking needs
- Build strong relationships and proactively cross-sell credit union products and services
- Educate members to help them make informed financial decisions
- Open/close accounts, maintain IRAs, renew certificates, and process account changes
- Facilitate safe deposit box rentals and order checks/debit cards
- Refer members to Mortgage and Retirement & Investment Services
Problem Solving & Account Maintenance
- Respond to member inquiries and resolve account issues efficiently
- Perform account maintenance, stop payments, and data updates
- Ensure all service requests are completed accurately and documented properly
Teller Operations
- Process deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, wires, and cash advances
- Issue official checks and money orders
- Verify endorsements and negotiability of documents
- Balance daily transactions and resolve discrepancies
- Investigate and correct out-of-balance conditions
Sales & Performance
- Deliver exceptional, personalized member service
- Achieve sales, referral, and service goals
- Identify opportunities to deepen member relationships and grow a book of business
- Promote banking, insurance, and investment solutions
Lending Responsibilities
- Conduct loan interviews and explain loan options, terms, and rates
- Process consumer loan applications from start to funding
- Collect and submit documentation to underwriting
- Follow up to ensure timely and accurate loan processing
- Disburse loans and finalize closings in compliance with policies
- Provide payoff quotes, credit ratings, and vehicle valuations (NADA)
- Set up ACH transfers, wires, and automatic payments
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all services adhere to credit union policies and legal standards
- Prepare and maintain reports, records, and documentation
- Maintain full compliance with BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) requirements
- Monitor transactions for suspicious activity
- Follow all BSA policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Experience in retail banking or credit union environment required
- Strong background in member service, teller operations, and/or lending
- Proven ability to cross-sell financial products and meet performance goals
- Knowledge of consumer loan processing and documentation
- Understanding of BSA compliance requirements
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail with strong organizational abilities
