Job Full Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for pre‑engineered metal building (PEMB) projects. This role plays a critical part in supporting the Sales team, ensuring project profitability, and providing seamless handoffs to Engineering and Design. The ideal candidate has strong technical estimating skills, the ability to read construction drawings, and hands‑on experience estimating PEMB projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret structural, architectural, and civil drawings
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for pre‑engineered metal building projects, including:
- Materials
- Labor
- Building components and accessories
- Produce competitive bids that align with customer requirements while protecting company margins
- Ensure estimates reflect true material and labor costs using company standard costs and current vendor pricing
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, and Design teams to align estimates with project scope and customer expectations
- Support the Sales team by responding to questions, reviewing scope changes, and assisting in bid clarification
- Provide thorough and organized estimate handoffs to the Design and Engineering teams after project award
- Maintain estimating documentation, assumptions, and clarifications for each project
Required Qualifications
- 3–7 years of experience as an Estimator
- Proven experience producing accurate, detailed construction cost estimates
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Pre‑Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) estimating experience (highly preferred / strongly preferred)
- Experience estimating structural steel or metal building systems
- Familiarity with vendor pricing, takeoffs, and cost databases related to metal buildings
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally
