Located in:   Mineola, TX

Pay: $80,000-$120,000/year

Job Full Description:

Our client, an established manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Lead to oversee electrical design review, controls engineering, panel modernization, and system reliability initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional who can combine technical expertise with leadership to improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and drive long-term control system improvements.

The ideal candidate will bring strong industrial electrical and controls experience, with the ability to independently evaluate, approve, troubleshoot, and enhance existing electrical designs rather than simply executing predefined schematics.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering & Design Oversight

  • Review and approve electrical designs, wiring diagrams, and control panel builds for CNC cutting systems.
  • Ensure all electrical systems and panel builds meet applicable NEC, NFPA, UL, and customer requirements.
  • Validate component selection, circuit protection, power distribution, and control architecture.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, maintainability, and overall system performance.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards, documentation, and design best practices.

Controls Troubleshooting & Support

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and control systems both in-house and at customer sites.
  • Support systems utilizing platforms such as NUM, Hypertherm, PVI, Mach3, and related industrial controls.
  • Lead root-cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions to minimize recurring equipment issues.
  • Reduce troubleshooting time through improved design practices, documentation, and standardization.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians, assemblers, and service personnel.

Continuous Improvement & System Upgrades

  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering and Software Engineering teams to redesign and upgrade aging control panels and electrical systems.
  • Evaluate legacy equipment and develop modernization strategies to improve performance and reliability.
  • Design and implement electrical upgrades across the company’s equipment fleet.
  • Program, modify, and support PLC and HMI applications as required.
  • Assist with automation initiatives and prepare equipment platforms for future robotics integration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • EIT certification or equivalent hands-on industrial controls experience will be considered in place of professional licensure.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering, controls engineering, automation, or related fields.
  • Strong experience with multi-phase and multi-voltage industrial equipment.
  • Ability to independently review, evaluate, and improve electrical designs and control systems.
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Strong understanding of industrial power distribution, controls architecture, and machine safety principles.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Preferred Experience

  • CNC machinery, cutting systems, or industrial automation equipment.
  • PLC programming, HMI development, and controls integration.
  • Industrial panel design and panel build review.
  • Compliance with NEC, NFPA, UL, and related electrical standards.
  • Equipment modernization and retrofit projects.
  • Robotics integration and advanced automation technologies.

What We're Looking For

Our client is looking for a technically strong, solutions-oriented engineering leader who enjoys getting into the details of complex electrical systems while helping shape the future of the company's equipment platform. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable reviewing designs, troubleshooting production equipment, mentoring technical teams, and leading strategic control system improvements.
