Job Full Description:
Our client, in the equipment rental/services industry, is seeking a Controller to lead its financial operations and reporting functions. This is a high-impact role for a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is ready to contribute strategically to the company’s continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage all financial reporting required by the company’s asset-based lender, including borrowing base calculations, compliance certificates, and related schedules.
- Oversee treasury management, including cash flow forecasting, daily banking activity, and coordination with financial institutions.
- Develop and enforce internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Lead the integration and optimization of a new digital accounting and ERP platform to enable efficient reporting and real-time financial visibility.
- Partner with operations leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency across multiple branch locations.
- Supervise and mentor a bookkeeper responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and lenders as needed.
- Contribute to financial planning initiatives related to fleet management, capital expenditures, and business expansion.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- CPA designation (preferred).
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.
- Direct experience with asset-based lending is non-negotiable. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of borrowing base reporting and compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems; prior implementation experience is a strong plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a small but growing company, balancing tactical execution with strategic oversight.
