Our client is a respected credit union looking to identify an experienced Collections Supervisor to lead and manage their collections operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with a strong background in financial services collections, loss mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
Position Overview
The Collections Supervisor will oversee daily collections operations, supervise staff performance, and ensure the effective management of delinquent accounts. This role plays a critical part in mitigating financial risk while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with credit union goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the collections department, directing daily workflow and holding staff accountable to established credit union performance goals
- Oversee loss mitigation activities, including bankruptcies, foreclosures, repossessions, charge-offs, and required compliance documentation
- Monitor and analyze delinquency and loss trends; prepare required reports and present risk management findings to Operations leadership
- Ensure all collections and loss mitigation activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and credit union policies
- Train, mentor, and develop collections staff to ensure consistent performance, accountability, and regulatory knowledge
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve complex member issues and minimize financial risk
Performance Outcomes & Measures
- Reduced delinquency and charge-off rates
- Accurate and compliant documentation for all loss mitigation actions
- A well-trained, high-performing, and accountable collections team
- Timely and insightful reporting to leadership on risk trends and financial losses
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in collections, loan servicing, or a related role within banking or a credit union environment
- Progressive supervisory or lead experience in collections strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of collections processes, loan servicing, and loss mitigation procedures (bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession)
- Knowledge of credit union products, services, and regulatory requirements
Education & Technical Skills
- Two-year college degree or completion of a specialized business or trade school program
OR equivalent through extensive in-house training or apprenticeship
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with Adobe PDF and data entry systems
- Data entry speed of 6,500+ keystrokes per hour
- Typing speed of 40+ words per minute
