Job Full Description:
Our client is a well-established organization in the manufacturing / construction / metal building industry looking to identify a highly skilled Accounting Manager / Controller. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who brings both technical expertise and the ability to collaborate across operations and executive leadership.
Position Overview
The Accounting Manager / Controller will oversee daily accounting operations while providing strategic financial insight to support business growth. This role owns financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, tax compliance, and audit coordination, while leading and developing the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, management reports, and forecasts
- Lead budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage successful audit completion
- Monitor and manage tax compliance, including oversight of income tax filings and sales/use tax
- Evaluate and implement process improvements and accounting automation
- Collaborate closely with operations, finance, HR, and executive leadership on financial strategy and decision-making
- Mentor and supervise accounting staff, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and professional development
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role
- Industry experience in manufacturing, construction, or metal building environments is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required)
- Master’s degree or CPA strongly preferred
- CMA or other relevant certifications are a plus
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal controls
- Advanced skills in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and data reconciliation
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
- Solid understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements
